VJHS 8th graders had the opportunity to participate in a job shadowing project on Friday. We had 53 students who spent the day exploring a potential future career and learning from a mentor. These are just a few of the participants. We want to thank all of the individuals and businesses that took time out of their schedules to make this possible.

A massive thank you to our incredible School Lunch (& Breakfast) Heroes. You do so much more than prepare meals—you nourish our entire community with your kindness. We are beyond grateful for you today and every day!

This position may be filled as either a school-year-only cook position or a full-time position with additional duties such as bus driving, custodial work, or other district support responsibilities.

Duties include preparing and serving meals, kitchen cleanup, and following food safety procedures. Full-time applicants must be willing to complete any required training or licensing for additional duties.

5th grade student council members worked hard cleaning up the landscaping at VJHS today. They did a great job!

It takes a special person to navigate the roads while keeping a bus full of students safe and happy. Huge thanks to our incredible Vandalia drivers! You are the first friendly faces our kids see in the morning and the ones who get them home safe at night. We truly appreciate your commitment to our community!

ATTENTION VCHS Baseball, Softball & VJHS Track:
4/27/26
Today's home baseball and softball games versus Pana have been canceled. Junior high track at Cowden has been canceled. All after-school practices for today have also been canceled.

Due to the inclement weather and forecast, the NJHS field trip to Springfield has been canceled. Instead, students will be taken the the bowling alley in town then to lunch at Los Amigos.

Members of the National Junior Honor Society completed their second service project by hosting bingo at Brookstone Estates.

Members of NJHS completed one of their service projects by serving a meal to members of the Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department last night.

Vandalia C.U.S.D. 203 is hiring for a Maintenance Director. Anticipated start date is May 26, 2026. Qualifications: Technical training in maintenance, engineering, facilities management, or a related field preferred. Maintenance experience with supervisory responsibility is highly recommended, along with strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, budgeting, and safety regulations. This is a 12 month position with starting pay based on experience aligned to the qualifications.
