VJHS Parent/Guardians,
We are very excited to have students return 4 days per week beginning January 20. Our 1st hour will continue to begin at 8:08am. Dismissal time will be 2:32pm for 5th-8th grade. Fourth grade pick-ups/walkers and early bus will dismiss at 2:15pm. Fourth grade late bus will dismiss at 2:32pm. Students and staff will continue to wear face coverings when in the building.
There are a couple of requests we have to help keep the numbers of students allowed in an enclosed space more manageable.
Riding on a bus with a friend will not be allowed
If you will be bringing your student to school in the morning, please do not drop-off before 7:50am
Please drop-off your student in the small south lot nearest the football field (back side of gym)
Clarification:
If you signed up to be all-remote for 2nd semester, you will still be all-remote.
This morning’s announcement about the school’s decision to move to the 100% All-In learning model starting Jan 20th applies to the students who have chosen to be in person.
We have a lot to celebrate as we enter 2021! We hit a Trifecta to begin the new year. What is the Trifecta you might ask? We hit our COVID metrics two weeks in a row AND all staff that had signed up for the COVID vaccination clinic on 1-9 were able to receive the first dose of the vaccine. Thank you FCHD! On the metrics, our positivity rate for data released on 1-8 once congregate setting positive cases are backed out is 7.2%.
We will be returning with all our students 4 days a week on January 20th. Please join me in celebrating this wonderful news! #VandalStrong

VJHS Parents/Guardians and Students,
I feel the need to follow-up on the information sent out yesterday in regards to returning to in-person learning. The decision to return to in-person learning on 1/20/21 will be based on the Fayette County Covid metrics whether that be in a hybrid form or the 4 day/week 100% model. My previous correspondence was not intended to read that a 100% return was not possible. For more information about VCUSD #203 Covid plans, go to https://www.vandals203.org/page/covid-information.
I apologize for any confusion that may have been caused. If you have any questions, please contact me via email at bkern@vandals203.org or at 283-5151.
VJHS Parents/Guardians, and Students,
We will begin remote learning for all students beginning tomorrow, Wednesday 1/6 through at least Friday, 1/15. We hope to transition back to hybrid in-person learning on Wednesday, 1/20. You will be informed of this transition next week. Please remember to "check-in" daily for attendance on Teacherease.
In an effort to make the learning experience more effective, we have put together some expectations for all stakeholders and a daily schedule for the students to follow during times of all-remote learning. We are aware that not all students will be able to view lessons on the scheduled times. Please know that there will be video recordings of the students teachers that can be viewed in Google Classroom. The following link includes grade level schedules and expectations. While we were not able to have a concert this season, I wanted to share the progress we are making in 5th and 6th grade so far this year! Many students in and out of remote learning, as well as being split into two groups has made for an interesting year so far! I did my best to include every student I could in these performances, (please do not be offended if your student does not appear!)
I am very proud of all of my students!
We spent a lot of time recording, and it takes a long time to put these recordings together- please enjoy!
Please enjoy this peek into our band room!
Be well, Ms. Mo

Vandalia #203 Nurses thank FCHD and FCH! #VandalStrong

Statement from Nurse Joy Lewis:
We are honored and excited to receive the COVID vaccine. We thank the FCHD and FCH for acknowledging our frontline work at the school. School nurses bridge the gap between healthcare and the education worlds. Besides caring for sick students and staff, we play a big role in educating our staff, students, and parents throughout this COVID-19 pandemic. Receiving the safe vaccination on Friday is another way we can hopefully educate and encourage our staff and community to receive this vaccination and promote a healthy and safe school environment for all.
Good morning! Our superhero school nurses received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday (12-18). I am happy to report that all went well, and they have not experienced any side effects. Tell them thank you for being brave and leading the way for us!
ATTENTION VJHS:
Teacherease is not working at the moment just for the Junior High. We are working on it and hopefully it will be working within the next hour. Please try entering your remote-student attendance after 9:00am.
Thank you for your patience!
