Alexandra Goldesberry, Peyton Brehm, and Ariyanna Berning were selected by the VCHS Social Studies department (out of a larger list of interested students) to attend Senator Jason Plummer Youth Advisory Council.
The students are broken into small groups with (this year 80) other students from the 54th Congressional District. They hear from Senator Plummer and other guest speakers in the morning. In the afternoon, the students will discuss a public policy issue in the fall session and then debate it at the spring session at the state Capitol. In the spring, the students will travel to Springfield for the day and be able to experience the legislative process and participate in a mock committee. The idea behind this initiative is to engage students who are interested in careers in public service to connect with elected officials and other leaders and learn about the legislative process.

The VCHS competitive cheerleading squad opened their season on December 4th at the ICCA invitational competition in Mt.Vernon. They got 2nd place, and also received a qualifying score for the ICCA Championships in January! Great start to the season!

VCHS Boys Basketball Game at South Central High School on Tuesday, December 6th will be bringing awareness to Alzheimer's and raising money towards finding a cure.
Miss Keely Smith, VCHS Health/PE teacher along with her mom, Mrs. Lynn Riehm, SCHS Business Teacher are joining our schools together to make this an amazing event!
There will be t-shirt sales, free throw pledges, silent auction, half-court shot, pizza sales, and 50/50 raffle tickets. We are also looking for silent auction items. Anyone can donate!
