Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year! A common question I am receiving is in regards to the Healthy School Meals for All. Both the Senate and House passed the Healthy School Meals for All Act in May and the Governor did sign it. What has not been highlighted or explained yet is that the Healthy School Meals for All is subject to state appropriations. At this time, the state has not appropriated any funds to reimburse the district and therefore the IL State Board of Education can not move forward with implementation of this until funding becomes available. In other words, the law passed but was not funded.

ATTENTION VCHS - 1st Day of School Tomorrow - Different Schedule We are getting ready and excited to see you all tomorrow! Just a reminder the 1st day of school is a different schedule because of our Vandal Pride Kickoff Day. All students will be staying the entire day because we have class meetings and an all-school assembly at the end of the day (Start earning those Vandal Pride Class Points!) If you do not have an enrichment, you will be going to the gym to help us set up for the Sports & Clubs Fair that will happen after class meetings. Below is the time schedule for the day. VCHS Football Red/White Night Practice will start around 5:30pm with the scrimmage portion beginning around 6pm. Admission will be a bottle of sports drink(Gatorade, Powerade, etc)

Vandalia CUSD #203 is hiring a second shift custodian. This is a 12 month position with benefits. Hey VCHS! Don't forget to register for school! You can fill out all the online forms at www.teacherease.com or come into the High School Office. 1st day of school is August 18th!

This year at the high school we will be trying something new. If a student wishes to use a locker this year, there will be an opportunity to sign up in the office for a locker. The student must pay a $20.00 deposit and provide their own lock. They will sign up in the office, and the office will assign the locker number after they sign up and show us their lock. At the end of the year, the $20.00 will be refunded to the student as long as the locker is in the same condition it was in when assigned. All school rules must be followed at all times with the locker. No student can share their locker with any other student except for who is assigned by the office. Lockers must remain locked at all times. Any violation of the rules will result in forfeiture of the $20.00 deposit and use of the locker.
