The Governor has announced we will continue Remote Learning for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. Next week our meal distribution will change to M, W, F still providing the same number of meals. We will continue to work as a team & get through this together. #VandalStrong
Very important - The next mass distribution date will be Tuesday, April 14 from 9:00-12:00 and 3:00-6:00 in the VES circle drive. This will include work for April 14-30. This will be for PreK, K, and 1st grades. 2nd and 3rd grade will continue to do Google Classroom via their Chromebooks. If you are a 2nd or 3rd grade parent who has contacted your child's teacher previously to have a paper packet made for your child, your teacher will make a paper packet for your child this time as well, and it will be available for pickup on this date as well. To summarize this, all PreK, K, and 1st need to come and get a paper packet. 2nd and 3rd only need to get a paper packet if you have made arrangements to that effect with your child's teacher because you do not have internet access.
We are running 20-30 minutes behind on the rural bus route deliveries for food today. Be patient, and we will see you soon. 😁
Attention to all who receive our meals: We are doing a mass distribution Wednesday for meals over Spring Break. It is very important that you pick up your meals or are avaiable when we deliver. This includes 8 meals for the break. We will resume service on April 14th.
The following email is from Lifetouch - I reached out to them to inquire about how they are handling the Spring Pictures at VES. This is their response.
Naturally we are all facing an unprecedented situation and we will do our best to adapt to things as they change. Currently, some of our production facilities are operating at capacity. However, because Illinois is a shelter in place state, the shipments are now coming to our office - which is closed as we are a non-essential business. So we are doing our best to manage with a skeleton crew and will be sorting and shipping once we are given the all clear.
As for Spring Pictures and Yearbooks -- I just wanted you to know we are working to come up with plan a, b and/or c for the delivery and distribution of both.
At this point, of course we are hoping everyone can be back in school before the end of the year, but if not, rest assured everyone who ordered will get their order. Even if we have to ship the items to students' homes at our expense of course.
I will keep you posted and we will work together to make the best decision for all when we know more. In the meantime, we share our best wishes for your safety and well-being, and for that of your families and school community.

As previously sent in email and posted on the VES Facebook, there will be a mass distribution of paper materials for students to work on during the school closure period from March 31-April 7. This will occur on Tuesday, March 31 from 9:00-12:00 and 3:00-6:00 in the VES circle drive. Please stay in your car through the circle drive and a VES staff member will hand you your child's materials. We will not be accepting paper materials and the log that you will have completed by then as we do not want to take in any materials from the outside due to health and safety reasons. When the school closure is complete you will be turning in all the completed materials and time logs at one time. This distribution of materials will include PreK through 2nd grade. Since 3rd grade is mostly working through Google Classroom via their Chromebooks, the parents of 3rd graders do not need to come to this mass distribution unless you have made special arrangements to get a paper packet with your child's specific teacher ahead of time The 3rd grade teachers will continue to provide assignments and instruction via the Google Classroom. If you have questions please email your child's teacher or Mrs. Mesnard at email@example.com
Please read the following message from Fayette County Health Department, Fayette County Hospital, & Fayette County Emergency Management Agency. #VandalStrong
Good afternoon VES students, parents, and staff,
I hope you all had a great weekend and spent time with your family safely inside your house, at least for the most part. My teachers and I have received your emails and phone calls and have been happy to respond when one of you needs help. This elearning is definitely different than what we are used to, but it's also been interesting and rewarding in many ways. Many of you wrote me messages on Facebook in response to my video and I thank you for reaching out. I will try to do a video every few days so that we can stay in touch. When we originally sent home materials (on Monday, March 16) we sent home enough to last through March 30. Now that we know the school closure is mandated through April 7, we need to get some more materials in your hands. My teachers will be spending this week preparing those materials and continuing to prepare lessons in Google Classroom and online at a variety of websites. The following information is so that you will know how to get those materials from us as well as a few other important details.
Tuesday, March 24-April 7- the VES office will be open from 10:00-1:00 daily. Mr. Emerick, Miss Terri, Miss Lori, and myself will be available during those hours for questions. Of course you can always email any VES staff member at any time of the day and we will respond to your question as soon as possible.
Tuesday, March 31 - There will be a mass distribution of paper materials from 9:00-12:00 and 3:00-6:00 from the circle drive at VES. A VES staff member will hand you the materials for your child from the front door of VES. This includes PreK-3rd grade.
I will see you on March 31! Until then, remember not to get bogged down by the amount of hours you are spending on the assignments. Just make sure you do some Reading, Writing, and Math each day and if your children are enjoying the online games and activities, by all means, let them play them as those games are educational as well as entertaining.
- Mrs. Mesnard, VES Principal
VES Students, Teachers, and Parents, I want to let you know that you can also contact our VES Technology teacher Mrs. Donaldson is you have questions about your elearning. She can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org

Let go of the stress right now the e-learning and packets might be causing. Instead, let's share our stories on social media how we can do our BEST together. Do this by posting and use #VandalStrong and #ILSchoolsStepUp. We can do this! I know we can.
Dear Parents- We are experiencing something new to all of us and doing the best we can in this current situation. My ask is do the best you can with the e-learning and packets. Don't get bogged down with the detals such as the 300 minutes or the exact times to sign-in.
