Over 60 community members gathered at the YMCA on Tuesday evening to talk about one guiding question:
โ€œWhat kind of community do we want to be?โ€

The Vandalia Civic Advancement group had a kick off panel of local leaders discussing community development.

One thing rang true the entire evening - Unity

Hereโ€™s what was discussed:

โ€ข $50M+ in recent community investment
โ€ข Growing school enrollment and workforce pathways
โ€ข Desirable quality of life assets
โ€ข Breaking down institutional silos
โ€ข Strategic infrastructure planning
โ€ข Attracting remote workers and return migration
โ€ข Housing balance across generations
โ€ข Supporting both young families and older adults

For the first time in decades, leadership across the City, School District, County, Park District, YMCA, healthcare, and business community are sitting at the same table with one goal:

Intentional, coordinated, generational progress.

We often get bogged down on all of the negativity that we see and hear, especially on social media. However, if you make your way through that, you realize our community has the ingredients for success, and that we are already changing for the better!

If you couldnโ€™t attend โ€” stay engaged. Please take the survey to help us move forward!

Vandalia Civic Advancement is a leadership coalition focused on aligning vision, planning, and collaboration to support long-term, coordinated community development across our region.

Weโ€™re kicking things off with an introductory community conversation โ€” a chance to learn more about why intentional planning matters, how communities work better together, and how we can strengthen investment and quality of life for current and future generations.

๐Ÿ“… Tuesday, February 10
๐Ÿ•• 6:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Family YMCA of Fayette County

Community members, business leaders, and anyone interested in the future of our area are encouraged to attend.

We look forward to the conversation.
