Vandalia CUSD #203 is seeking dependable applicants for the position of Substitute Cook with potential for a full-time position. The substitute Cook will perform the following duties: Helps prepare and serve daily meals according to the printed menu, responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen including equipment and appliances, wash service area, dishes, trays, pots/pans by hand, with sprayer and industrial dishwasher, complies with all county health rules and regulations, ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner, complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards, may be required to perform additional tasks as required by head cook. You must be able to lift up to 48 lbs and the ability to push and pull up to 30 lbs.
Substitute pay is $15.00 an hour.
All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background, and Fingerprint process. High School diploma or equivalent required.
Applications may be picked up and or turned in at Vandalia Administration Office, 1109 North 8th Street, Vandalia, IL 62471. Located on the Southwest side of the Vandalia High School, door number 9.

VCUSD #203 will be dismissing school early on Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th. Dismissal times are as follows: VES - 2:00 PM walkers/pick-ups/and early bus students. Pre-K AM 8:00 – 11:00 Pre-K PM 12:00 - 2:00 . VJHS – 2:00 PM 4th Grade walkers/pick-ups/and early bus students; 2:15 PM - 5th thru 8th Grades . VCHS - 2:15 PM. There will be NO school from Monday, December 23rd thru Friday, January 3rd. School will resume on Monday, January 6th

18th Annual Community Thanksgiving Meal - Served from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
On Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, 2024 At the Moose Lodge, 328 S 3rd St, Vandalia
There is NO CHARGE for this meal. Deliveries to shut-ins only (There will be no order forms this year. Everyone will receive the same meal.) Please contact (618) 322-8824 for deliveries. Volunteers are welcome! Come - let us feast and give thanks together!
Beginning Monday, December 2, VES will be collecting non-perishable food items for Fayette County Caring and Sharing.
This can include cans of veggies, soups, peanut butter, pancake mix, etc.
Please make sure nothing is in a glass jar or container!
Your students can drop these off with their classroom teacher. They will be collecting daily and all items will be picked up on Tuesday, December 17th. The class that collects the most items wins a pizza party.
