As previously sent in email and posted on the VES Facebook, there will be a mass distribution of paper materials for students to work on during the school closure period from March 31-April 7. This will occur on Tuesday, March 31 from 9:00-12:00 and 3:00-6:00 in the VES circle drive. Please stay in your car through the circle drive and a VES staff member will hand you your child's materials. We will not be accepting paper materials and the log that you will have completed by then as we do not want to take in any materials from the outside due to health and safety reasons. When the school closure is complete you will be turning in all the completed materials and time logs at one time. This distribution of materials will include PreK through 2nd grade. Since 3rd grade is mostly working through Google Classroom via their Chromebooks, the parents of 3rd graders do not need to come to this mass distribution unless you have made special arrangements to get a paper packet with your child's specific teacher ahead of time The 3rd grade teachers will continue to provide assignments and instruction via the Google Classroom. If you have questions please email your child's teacher or Mrs. Mesnard at smesnard@vandals203.org

Good afternoon VES students, parents, and staff, I hope you all had a great weekend and spent time with your family safely inside your house, at least for the most part. My teachers and I have received your emails and phone calls and have been happy to respond when one of you needs help. This elearning is definitely different than what we are used to, but it's also been interesting and rewarding in many ways. Many of you wrote me messages on Facebook in response to my video and I thank you for reaching out. I will try to do a video every few days so that we can stay in touch. When we originally sent home materials (on Monday, March 16) we sent home enough to last through March 30. Now that we know the school closure is mandated through April 7, we need to get some more materials in your hands. My teachers will be spending this week preparing those materials and continuing to prepare lessons in Google Classroom and online at a variety of websites. The following information is so that you will know how to get those materials from us as well as a few other important details. Tuesday, March 24-April 7- the VES office will be open from 10:00-1:00 daily. Mr. Emerick, Miss Terri, Miss Lori, and myself will be available during those hours for questions. Of course you can always email any VES staff member at any time of the day and we will respond to your question as soon as possible. Tuesday, March 31 - There will be a mass distribution of paper materials from 9:00-12:00 and 3:00-6:00 from the circle drive at VES. A VES staff member will hand you the materials for your child from the front door of VES. This includes PreK-3rd grade. I will see you on March 31! Until then, remember not to get bogged down by the amount of hours you are spending on the assignments. Just make sure you do some Reading, Writing, and Math each day and if your children are enjoying the online games and activities, by all means, let them play them as those games are educational as well as entertaining. - Mrs. Mesnard, VES Principal

Let go of the stress right now the e-learning and packets might be causing. Instead, let's share our stories on social media how we can do our BEST together. Do this by posting and use #VandalStrong and #ILSchoolsStepUp. We can do this! I know we can.

Dear Parents- We are experiencing something new to all of us and doing the best we can in this current situation. My ask is do the best you can with the e-learning and packets. Don't get bogged down with the detals such as the 300 minutes or the exact times to sign-in.

The limo ride to Pizza Hut, the cookie dough distribution, the 2nd grade musical, and the Dodgeball Tourney that were all scheduled in March at VES have been canceled. Every effort will be made to reschedule these events as soon as possible.

Please complete the Grab and Go lunch form. If transportation is a barrier, we are working on delivery routes. If your school-age child attends a daycare when school is not in session, this is an option too. We are all in this together. https://forms.gle/BxFfK2aLFmiEpFzP8
