VCUSD #203 will not have student attendance on Friday, October 7th for Teachers’ Institute. School will be closed Monday, October 10th in observance of Columbus Day. The normal school schedule will resume on Tuesday, October 11th.

Vandalia CUSD #203 is hiring a second shift custodian for VJHS. This is a 12 month position with benefits. Spectator Guidelines for High School Football Games 1. All students who are not in high school must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. If the adult leaves the game, the student under their care must leave as well. 2. Once a student enters, they may not leave and reenter unless they are accompanied by an adult. 3. Middle and high school students are expected to be seated for the majority of the game. 4. No throwing of any object is permitted. Objects will be confiscated. 5. Skateboards and bikes are not allowed inside of the gates. 6. All school rules apply at any school event. 7. Failure to comply with the above expectations will result in students being removed from the game and/or parent/guardian contact.

VJHS has a new temporary main entrance. This entrance is to be used for all visitors to enter and exit the building throughout the day. This entrance is located on the west side of VJHS. Visitors should park in the first three rows nearest VES of the large parking lot off of Veterans Ave. There are two doors, gray in color, that have a security system that will require visitors to ring the door bell to be let into the building. All visitors must report to the office upon entering. Thank you for your continued patience during our construction.

ATTENTION 4th and 5th grade parents: Open house will be on August 17th 5:00-6:00. Your child can bring his/her school supplies that day. Please enter door 4, it is the door closest to County Market.

Please see the following pick-up/drop-off information for VJHS and VES this semester: VJHS The small south lot (in front of the JH) will be closed and only used for construction materials/equipment JH student drop-off/pick-up will be rerouted behind the VJHS gym. Parents will loop through the drive between Aldi’s and McDonald’s 4th/5th grade students will enter and exit through the rear (east) cafeteria JH doors. 6th/7th/8th grade students will enter/exit through the rear (east) gym doors. 4th grade pick-ups will exit out the JH cafeteria doors at dismissal time All bus students (JH) will enter through the main entrance in the morning. All students will need to exit through the main doors as well. This project is going to require changes through the school year as well. VES Drop-off/pick-up will remain in the circle drive as normal Pick-up will remain in the circle drive for parents who are staying INSIDE their cars and going through the circle drive - this is highly recommended For parents who typically pick up their child on the sidewalk in front of VES, this will not be able to occur any longer when we dismiss at 11:30, 2:00, or 3:00. Instead, you must park in the back of VES in the three rows closest to VES and line up on the sidewalk between the parking lot and the building. It is very important that you stay on the sidewalk and wait for your child to be delivered to you by a VES staff member. For 11:00 PreK pick-up and 12:00 PreK drop-off only - If you wish to park in the parking lot across the street from VES near the baseball fields, you can do so and walk up to the circle drive to drop off or pick up your child.

VJHS will have a brief orientation and tour for new students to the district for grades 4-8 at 9am, Friday, 8/12 beginning in the cafeteria
