VJHS Parents/Guardians,
We want to clarify for everyone what in-person learning will be beginning January 5. Due to the current cases in our county and knowing that families will gather during the holidays, we will begin second semester all remote for the first two weeks (1/5/21-1/15/21). We will then transition back to our current hybrid learning model if at that time the metric data is in line for this transition. We would stay in hybrid learning until either the county positivity rate is less than 8% or the cases per 100K is less than 50 for two consecutive weeks. At that time, we would transition to 100%/ 4 day per week learning. Under the 100% in-person learning would be attendance Monday-Thursday. Dismissal at VJHS would be 2:32pm on these days. Fridays would be remote for all.
IF the county metrics would allow for a 100% return after the first two weeks of remote learning in January, and this is a huge IF, we could transition to 100% learning on 1/19/21. Again, I want to stress that we have a long way to go as a community in slowing the spread of Covid-19 before we can get to this point.
Please see this flow chart to summarize what will be used to make these decisions of when to return to in-person learning:

We plan on all buildings running in the hybrid learning model next week. I want to make special note that if one more VES staff member is excluded over the weekend, they may be remote at VES next week. We have our highest number of COVID staff exclusions to date this week.
